Gatorade Commercial

This was the commercial we had to. I loved doing this commercial because I liked all of the processes in it; filming, editing, uploading, etc. I was glad with the result of the commercial and glad I found an interest in doing things with film.

What Would Students Do If They Won $1 Million?

What Would Students Do If They Won $1 Million?
Ethan Gresko

Keep it for yourself? Donate it? Share it with your friends and family? Do you get it from the lottery or receive it in a briefcase on your front door? One million dollars is a lot of money and it is a big question what to do with it if they received it.
Many have dreams they want to fulfill, and the money is a good way to fulfill those dreams. Nathan Pembrook, a sophomore creative writer, said, “I would buy a sports complex, lots of great sports equipment so I could play more sports, and buy some treats for my dog.” Nathan picked those things because of his interest in sports and his want to improve his skills. “Well, I like sports. And I like my dog.” Clearly, Nate would like the money for selfish needs; things that would improve his life.
However, others are more cautious about the money. Nikki Ehmann, who is also a sophomore creative writer, was asked the same question. “I would put most of it into savings, donate some of it, and go on a shopping spree.” She was then asked why she chose the things she did. “With that much money, I wouldn’t want to keep it all to myself, other people deserve it too. However it would be good to keep some of it as a ‘safety net’ in case I need it for something important.” Nikki’s answer seems more of the right thing to do. However what one does with one million dollars is completely up to them.
Like Nikki, many of the motivation to manage the money carefully. Timothy Schuler is a theater tech major here at School of the Arts. Tim said, “I would like to invest half and spend half, that’s all.” It was nice to see Tim have his mind made up about it. He clearly thinks the decision is an obvious one and what he plans to do is the right thing.
Recently, the lottery reached fifty million in the Mega Millions jackpot. However, students have to wait two or three years to buy a lottery ticket, as the legal age to buy a ticket is 18.  If a student were to actually win one million dollars, it seems likely it would be from the lottery.
As for opinions, everyone’s differs. Some prefer to keep it to themselves, others to keep some for them, and donate the rest, and others to donate all of it, or keep it for a later time. Although many of the opinions are different, they matter all the same because one million dollars is a lot and what they do with it will impact their lives in some manner.

Rochester Landmark Article

Nick Tahou

Nick Tahou is a burger joint established in 1918 in Rochester, NY. Nick Tahou is a notable landmark because it is one of a kind. Tahou serves hots and burgers, chicken and sausage, and their famous garbage plate, which brings in the population of customers it has. Nick Tahou gives Rochester one more reason to visit this town.

Nick Tahou was founded by Alex Tahou in 1918. The name, Nick Tahou, came from the founder’s son, Nick Tahou, who later died in 1997.  Currently, Nick Tahou’s son, Alex Tahou, runs the famous restaurant.
Nick Tahou Hots is notably famous for their invention, the garbage plate.  The garbage plate consists of a selection of cheeseburger, hamburger, red or white hots, Italian sausage, chicken tenders, haddock, fried ham, grilled cheese or eggs. Then there are the two sides of home fries, French fries, baked beans, or mac salad. In even more addition, a diner can top their garbage plate with mustard and onions, and Nick’s famous hot sauce, which consists of spices and slow simmered ground beef. The garbage plate was named New York State’s fattiest food by Health.com.

The Nick Tahou on West Main street at Oak street was formerly a station for the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh railway in 1881. The building served as a depot and hotel. It is also stationed near the Rochester abandoned subway.

Nick Tahou has been featured on the Food Network’s Unwrapped, a Rochester based Monopoly, and the June 2007 issue of US Airways in-flight magazine. Nick Tahou has also been seen twice on the Travel Channel, once on Chowdown Countdown where it ranked 81 out of 101 locations. A second time on Man v. Food Nation.

There are many reasons why Nick  Tahou is so famous, and it’s media and historical reasons are just a few. Every Rochester tourist should stop there at least once when in town to experience the full delight of history and good food.

This project was interesting to do because it introduced us to article writing. We had to research a landmark, mine being Nick Tohou, and find out why it was an important Rochester landmark. The information I learned plus the experience gained from the project made this a fun thing to do.

Sports Magazine

This is the sports magazine done for this class. This project was interesting because it was the first magazine we did and we wrote a lot of articles for it. It gave me insight on what is involved in writing a magazine and what it would be like writing articles in the future or as a career.

Interview

This is the interview project. I was interviewed by Nate and I had to edit out his questions and answer him restating the question. Applying b-role footage and editing made this interview much more appealing to watch.

Photo Journalism

This was the photo journalism project. This was enjoyable to do because I liked picking out pictures and decoding the techniques or vocabulary in the photos. Collaborating the project with iMovie made the task even better.

PSA

This is the first video project completed for Creative Journalism. This PSA (Public Service Announcement) was done on a non profit organization called the Crisis Nursery of Greater Rochester. This project was fun to do because it was the first project we completed on iMovie for the class and it opened up an interest to doing projects for iMovie.
